Today, Valve made an announcement that made all Dota 2 fans heartbroken. The thing that we’ve been dreading for a long time has finally come into reality, The International 10 will not happen this year and will likely be pushed to 2021. Though heartbreaking, this is probably the best decision and the right call with everything happening right now. Remember that the Covid-19 pandemic has also caused previous DPC tournaments to be canceled.
Personally, this is an event that I’m highly anticipating every year. But acceptance is needed and we need to look at the bigger picture. The welfare of the players, staff, and everyone else are what matters most.
But there are is a little bit of good news though, as the Battle Pass will be released sooner but will be delayed for a couple of weeks. But hey, better late than never and I will definitely buy one as a support to the community that I love.
If you think you’re heartbroken and sad, just think of our professional players who’ve been working hard all year for the said event. Here are the reactions from them.
Ramzes is all of us right now.
OG and MidOne will have to wait until next year to defend their TI crown. But I guess we’ll see more streams from Yeik.
I think we will see a lot of professional players spending more time streaming right now, and that’s a silver lining in this situation.
Our favorite teams and casters also had their fair share of reactions to the sad announcement.
Defending TI champions hoping for memorable TI next year.
I definitely agree with Rich. I think the International 10 will be a spectacle considering the long wait and anticipation.
The cancellation is kinda expected and understandable, but it doesn’t change the fact that it is still heartbreaking especially to us fans who’ve been in the community from the start. Here’s to hoping that the TI10 will push through next year and the pandemic will come to an end.
