Is it worth buying a Nintendo Switch

It has been almost 4 years since the first version of Nintendo Switch was released but up until now, its sales are still rising in numbers and Nintendo’s profit keeps jumping high. I was actually not surprised by this fact as I also just bought my own Nintendo Switch V2 last October 2020. If you’ll ask me why now, I’ll probably say that I have the same reason as to why you’re here too. I’m hesitant before if I’m going to buy the console as I don’t have any idea if It will be worth it.

Is it still worth buying a Nintendo Switch this 2021?

Though some might say that at this point of time you should rather buy a Playstation 5 or a PC, I would still say otherwise. They are both good but the Nintendo Switch also has something special to offer that is unique to it.

If you are also worried if they will release a new console this year then don’t fret, as Nintendo said that they are focusing on existing Switch models rather than the heavily-rumored Switch Pro, according to Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser. I think it is safe to say that you won’t be replacing your Nintendo Switch sooner or later if you bought one today.

In this article, I’ve listed some of the factors below that I think you should consider before buying the console.

Table of Contents:

1. Games
2. Co-op
3. Affordable Games
4. Portable
5. Battery Life

1. Games

Nintendo Switch has a lot of games that will surely entertain you for a lot of hours. From RPG’s, Party Games, Racing, Sports and a lot more, name it and you’ll surely find something that you’ll enjoy and spend the rest of the day playing with it.

Here are some games that I was initially in loved with and will recommend for everyone to play.

Zelda Breath of the Wild is the main reason why I bought the the Nintendo Switch, and by far the best game I’ve played in the console. It took me almost a month and a half to finish it but i was only able to play it after work and on weekends.

After clearing the game 3 years after it was released, I can honestly say that it was worth the hype. And guess what, they will be releasing a sequel soon. And I hope the waiting time will be less than as expected.

But the fun never stops after finishing the Breath of the Wild as there are a lot of Adventure games that has good gameplay and story that lasts for hours such as Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Octopath Traveller, Immortals Fenyx Rising and DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of An Elusive Age to name a few.

Pokemon

If you are a Pokemon fan and been playing the game since its Red Version, then this console is a must have. I have played all versions of the game and there is no reason for me to not play the Pokemon Sword and Shield, which is the latest in the franchise. There are also rumours about remakes so rest assured that there won’t be any shortage of the game you love anytime soon.

NBA

NBA fans don’t have to worry about playing 2K on Nintendo Switch as the game is very much available on the console. Despite having some mix reviews, I still believe that it is still worth playing.

Though it can’t run Cyperbunk 2077, Nintendo switch has a lot of good games to offer to satisfy your gaming needs. You can check out all the games and their prices here.

2. Co-op

Some people will say that the best way to play games is to play it with your friends and I agree with that. The Nintendo Switch is the best console for local multiplayer or even online. Games like Mario Kart, Super Mario Party, Overcooked Just Dance and Among Us will surely make your time with your friends worth spending.

My personal favorite would be Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled and I suggest you play it with your buddies too.

3. Affordability of games

One thing that I love about the Nintendo Switch is it has a variety of games that are always on sale online. You can enjoy as much as 85% off on prices on selected games everyday. Just make sure that you are in the right region as some countries doesn’t have access to Nintendo Eshop.

They have a lot of payment methods as you can either use your credit card, paypal and Nintendo eShop cards to purchase your games.

Just make sure to have enough memory if you’re going for digital games or you could just buy a memory card for switch so you’ll have enough space for your games.

But if you’re not into digital games just like me then I suggest that you should go for physical ones. Besides not worrying about the memory, you can also store the games as memorabilia if you’re into collecting and preserving games too.

4. Portable

Portable Nintendo Switch

This is probably one of the biggest factor why I decided to bought one. There are days when I just want to lie down on my bed and play the games that I love and Nintendo Switch is capable of that while others are not. I can also use it while inside the car so I don’t get bored while I’m in the backseat.

It is also not that big, making it easier to carry whenever I decide to bring it to my friends house to play it with them.

5. Battery Life

Don’t worry about Battery life as you can go playing for multiple hours without your console dying. I once played 4 hours straight and I still have 20% of battery left, and that’s with max light and volume. Playing time is also much longer when played on TV.

Switch Lite or V2?

I think I’ve stated enough reason to convince you that it will be worth it. And if you’re already decided to buy one, the remaining question would be “What would I buy? A switch lite or a V2?”

I know many of you are still contemplating on whether to buy a Nintendo Switch Lite or a Nintendo Switch V2 and I suggest that you go for the latter. Some games are better played with V2 (motion control) and its battery life is much better. You are really getting your money’s worth and you won’t be regret the additional money that you’ll spend. You can also dock it on your Smart TV so you can play on a bigger screen, especially playing co-op and party games with your friends.

One good thing also about the V2 is you can replace broken controllers individually. Fortunately in my case my Joy-Cons are still working perfectly despite me using it everyday.

Conclusion

I think buying my Nintendo Switch has been good for me so far, as I still have so many games to buy and and I’m very much looking forward to playing most of it. I’m confident that I will still be using this console for years to come even if Nintendo releases a new one. The decision will still be upon you, but I would really say that this is the right time to buy a Nintendo Switch.
