Dawnbreaker Dota 2 New Hero

As promised, a new hero was introduced in the 7.29 Gameplay update in Dota 2 named Valora, the Dawnbreaker. She is a categorized as Durable, Carry and melee and can also heal her teammates. She uses her celestial hammer to defeat enemies hurling it hammer through multiple foes and then converging with it in a blazing wake.

Alongside this new hero is a bunch of important updates that will affect the way we play the game such as the removal of Necronomicon and a lot more.

In this article, I will list down Dawnbreaker’s abilities together with other notable changes in the patch.

Dawnbreaker’s Abilities

Starbreaker

Dawnbreaker whirls her hammer around 3 times, damaging enemies with her attack and bonus damage. On the final strike, she smashes her hammer down, stunning and damaging enemies in front of her.

Celestial Hammer

Dawnbreaker hurls her weapon at a target, damaging enemies struck along the way. The hammer pauses briefly at the destination before flying back to her, leaving a blazing trail that slows enemies. Dawnbreaker can recall the hammer at any time, pulling her towards it so they meet in the middle.

Luminosity

After 3 attacks, Dawnbreaker powers up, charging her next attack with a critical hit that heals all allied heroes around her for a portion of attack damage dealt.

Solar Guardian

Dawnbreaker creates a pulsing effect at a location near an allied hero anywhere on the map, damaging enemies and healing allies with each pulse. After a short duration, she flies to the target location, dealing additional damage and stunning enemies upon landing.

Notable Gameplay Updates

Map

They have moved outposts to stand more prominently in the primary jungle, moving ward cliffs, and adjusting the positioning of neutral camps and various paths around the map

Added Power Runes

Instantly restores 100 health and 80 mana when used. Can be used to fill bottles. Starting at 6 minutes, Power Runes spawn as usual on one side. It spawns at both Power Rune locations only at minute 2 and 4.

Outposts

Outposts now provide XPM while controlled (XP = 2*Minute). No extra XP granted when controlling two outposts, similar to the existing rules.

Bounty Runes

  • Bounty runes no longer spawns in the river
  • Bounty Runes now spawn every 3 minutes in the respective jungle area
  • Bounty Runes no longer disappear when new ones spawn, they now spawn alongside the previous one if it isn’t picked up
  • At minute 0, Bounty Runes spawn in the jungle and at the power rune locations (4 total at the start of the game)
  • Bounty Runes after the initial set are reduced by 10%

Town Portal

  • Heroes now start the game with 1 TP scroll rather than 3
  • Heroes now gain 1 TP scroll on death
  • TP Scroll cost increased from 90 to 100

Roshan Drops

  • Aghanim’s Scepter: Roshan drop now requires you to activate it to consume it (has no effect until consumed)
  • Aghanim’s Shard: Now drops on the second Roshan kill, and only that one (has same activation mechanics as the Scepter drop)

Courier

Couriers no longer have vision when inside Roshan’s pit

Notable Item Changes

  • Necronomicon was removed
  • Shared tangos now expire after 40 seconds
  • Abyssal Blade no longer has blink effect
  • Headress now provides +0.5 HP regen to the holder
  • Force Staff – Ring of Regeneration replaced with Fluffy Hat (+150 Health instead of regen)
  • Solar Crest – Recipe changed to Medallion, Crown, Wind Lace and a 900 gold recipe (1150 cheaper)
  • Helm of the Overlord – Renamed from Helm of the Dominator 2 to Helm of the Overlord and added to the shop UI as an independent itemCan now dominate up to two units (150 bounty)
  • Divine Rapier no longer provides true strike
  • Witch Blade’s poison attack now has true strike
  • Enchanted Mango can now be sold
  • Smoke of Deceit can now be dispelled by fountain

Notable Neutral Item Changes

  • Royal Jelly was removed
  • Trusty Shovel now drops an Enchanted Mango instead of a TP Scroll
  • Paladin Sword now provides 8% spell lifesteal
  • Flicker now always goes in a random forward direction with a random distance between 200 and 600
  • Trickster Cloak no longer interrupts channeling abilities. Active can now be dispelled. Invisibility now provides phased movement. Now has a 0.2 second fade time
  • Force Boots now has a 0.2 second fade time
