After the conclusion of Season 18, Axie Infinity announced that there would be a new Match Making Rating (MMR) System. There are currently two MMR Systems, one for seasons and one for the off-season. Seasonal MMR is immediately reset once a season is over while offseason MMR is currently permanent.
Seasonal MMR will be the basis of the season Leaderboards and top-ranking players will be rewarded with corresponding AXS based on their rank. Before the start of an official season, your MMR will reset to 1200 and once the season is over your MMR will transition into off-season MMR.
Off-Season MMR is your permanent MMR during the off-season. While there is still a leaderboard in the off-season, there will be no AXS rewards for top-ranking players.
Season MMR and Off-Season MMR Timeline
If you’re still confused about these two MMR Systems then you can refer to the photo below for better understanding.
- Let’s say you started playing Axie Infinity in Season 18 with a starting MMR of 1200 and ended the season with 1900.
- After the conclusion of Season 17, you will now transition into the off-season and you’ll start again at 1200 and whatever MMR you ended up with will stay until the off-season is back. Let’s say for example you ended the off-season at 2500 MMR.
- Once Season 19 starts, your MMR will again reset at 1200. Let’s also say hypothetically that you ended up at 2800.
- After the conclusion of Season 19, your MMR will be reverted to your permanent off-season MMR which is 2500.
- Once Season 20 starts, your MMR will again reset at 1200.
