Plant Vs Undead (PVU) is a NFT tower defense game where you use plants, which are NFT’s, to fight off waves of enemies. As of writing, Farm Mode is the only available feature in the game.
There are two kinds of game modes for PVU, which are Tower Defense and Farming. We will ditch TD first and will just focus on farming, which is way cheaper than the former.
Farm Mode allows you to earn profit from unused assets. You’ll have access to five plant slot and a sole mother three slot. Taking care of these plants are crucial so they can be stronger when you use them in the Tower Defense soon.

How to Play Plant Vs Undead
The main goal of farming is to earn Light Energy, a resource that allows player to earn through conversion. You earn Light Energy by planting your own seeds, watering yours and other players’ plants, and harvesting.
So basically if you want to cash out, you will want to convert the Light Energies that you’ve earned into PVU Tokens, which is equivalent to 11.75 USD as of writing (September 5, 2019). You need to have at least 100 Light Energies to convert it into 1 PVU Token.
To start playing Farm Mode, go to Plant Vs Undead official website and connect your Metamask. After that you need to click the ‘Farm’ button to start the game.

Next thing to do is to convert your 5 PVU Tokens into Light Energy to start playing. Converting PVU to LE will also cost a gas fee.
Now that you have Light Energy, you can now either plant your own seed and take care of them or water other players plants.
Buying Seeds and Farming Tools
You’ll have access to 5 slots for plants and 1 slot for a mother tree that can be claimed in the ‘Land’ interface. After that, you need to buy farming tools at the Shop. You need to have at least one small pot and 1 set of water which can be used a 100 times. These tools cost a small amount of Light Energy.
Next is to buy Sunflower Seeds. You can either buy a Sunflower Sapling (100 LE), which gives you 250 LE after 3 days, Sunflower Mama (200 LE) which gives you 850 LE after 6 days.
You can also buy a Sunbox (100 LE) to get the chance to get the following:
- 30% to drop 100x water and 20x scarecrows
- 30% to drop 2x small pots
- 30% to drop 1x Sunflower Sapling
- 9.9% to drop 1x Sunflower Mama
- 0.1% to drop 1x seed
You can also buy a Scarecrow from the shop, which is used to farm Light Energy daily.
Planting Sunflowers And Watering Them
Once you have the necessary farming tools and seeds, you can now start your farming journey.
Go to Land interface and select an available land for you to plant your seeds. Next is to choose a sunflower that you want to use for planting.
After that, go back to your farm and add a pot to your plant by clicking on the plant slot and pressing ‘Use’ button next to the pot.
You will also need to water your plants depending on the seed that you planted.
Watering Other Players Plants
If you have a lot of water to use and time to spare, you can also do the daily task of watering other players’ plants. Click the Land Map button and click on any plot so you can see the farms of other players.
Select a plant that you want to water and get a chance to get these Sunflower Saplings:
- When water count is between 0–19: 10% to drop 1x Sunflower Sapling.
- When water count is between 20–39: 9% to drop 1x Sunflower Sapling.
- When water count is between 40–59: 8% to drop 1x Sunflower Sapling.
- When water count is between 60–79: 7% to drop 1x Sunflower Sapling.
- When water count is between 80–99: 6% to drop 1x Sunflower Sapling.
- When water count is between 100 or higher, there would be no Sapling drop.
You can water up to 15 times daily to get 50 LE.
There’s also a small chance where crows appear on the plot. You can chase them using scare crows for a 10% chance to drop two Sunflower Saplings.
Harvesting Light Energies and Earning
Go back to your own Farm and wait for your Sunflowers to be fully grown. Once it happens, you can now harvest Light Energies and convert it to PVU Token if you want to start earning. 100 Light Energy is equal to 1 PVU Token.
Once you’re done harvesting Light Energies from your plant, you can remove them so you can plant another one on that slot.
