If you’re a 90’s kid, I’m one hundred percent sure you’ve experienced playing the classic PlayStation 1 console. It has been 25 years since the console was released in Japan and you wonder if you can just go back in time and relive the fun experience you’ve had playing games with it. And Since we’re in the smartphone age, I know you’re wondering too how you can play your favorite PS1 game on your android devices.
Almost everything is possible now and fortunately, you can now enjoy playing your favorite Crash Bandicoot and Metal Gear games in the comforts of your phone.
Here’s how you can play PS1 on Android:
1. Get A Console
I would recommend getting Epsxe on android. For you to play PS1, you will need a bios but Epsxe has a built-it one so it’s not much of a problem anymore. It is not for free, but I know all of you guys are resourceful enough, so I’m positive you’ll get yours too. You can also download cheats directly on this console so you don’t have to worry about googling GameShark codes if you know what I mean.

2. You need PS1 Roms
For you to play your favorite game, then you need to have ROMs or a virtual copy of the game. You can get yours at Coolrom.com. They have almost all games possible and are categorized well from the top-rated to top downloaded. Game sizes are big so make sure you have enough space in your storage.
3. Extract your Roms
The ROMs you downloaded come in zip files so you need to extract them to a folder(Make sure you know the location of the file). Some android devices don’t have a built-in extractor but you can use RAR (You can download it on Playstore)
4. Let the Fun Begin
You can now play your favorite PS1 Games! Just open your EPSXE emulator and locate the game you extracted earlier and you’re good to go!
Here’s a list of my personal PS1 game favorites:
1. Crash Team Racing – My go-to coop game whenever I have visitors.
2. Brigandine – Good Story, gameplay, Antagonists, and side characters/monsters.
3. Threads of Fate – Good STORY and gameplay. That’s it.
4. Marvel vs Capcom – Very Addicting. But I have to be honest, I don’t know how to use insane combos that will completely render your opponent’s controller useless.
5. Twisted Metal 4 – Same reason as Crash Team Racing, and I love SweetTooth. Crazy. My brother and I used to play this game a lot but it is also the reason why we hated each other as children.
6. Legend of Mana – Probably one of the best games in PS1, in my opinion. The soundtrack and OSTs are impeccable. Lots of weapon choices and a wide array of skills that made the game super enjoyable. What I love about this game also is the option for multiplayer which lets you play with a friend and finish the game together.
