Plants vs Zombies 3

The much-awaited Plants Vs Zombies 3 is now available for download in Android and IOS in selected territories such as the Philippines. It has been 11 years since the original PVZ was released and we are definitely excited for a new one.

The sequel comes along with a number of changes to the classic game. Headlining the changes is how players get sunlight to place their favorite plants. Before, you need to place a Sunflower on the field that will generate sunlight over time. In PVZ 3, sunlight is acquired over time without players placing any Sunflower. I think this feature is a great idea making it more friendly to the more casual gamers.

The only odd thing about the game is that it is in portrait mode. The developers said that making the game in portrait mode makes the game more phone-friendly. They also said that their goal is to make the game easily played with one hand and that choice of mode really does that.

Gameplay and Review

For people who are new to the game, it still comes with a tutorial so you don’t have to worry about getting your ass kicked by those zombies.

Placing your plant

Just like in the old times, you just need to drag the plant onto the field. A plant costs a specific Sun.

Sunlight

Again, you don’t have to worry about the sunlight because you will get those over time.

Taco Time

Tacos activate a plant’s unique Tacobility. It lasts the whole battle. To give a taco to a plant, click on Promote, then click on a specific plant on the field that you want their abilities upgraded.

Example: Giving a Taco to a Peashooter will make them shoot more peas. Giving your Wall-Nut some tacos will give them extra armor.

Pinatas

Pinatas are full of plant seeds to upgrade your plants. You can get free Pinatas from your house multiple times each day.

Threats

Before every level, you’ll get a peek of the strongest zombie that can appear so you can prepare for it. You’ll also know if you’re lineup can stand a chance on that level by looking at the Team Power.

Other Features

Adding plants to your team

You can add new plants to your team by clicking the plant icon, then clicking the plant that you want to include in your team.

Upgrading Plants

You can also upgrade your plants making their stats go higher.

Getting new plants

You can acquire new plants as you go and beat enough towers.

Shovel

Lets you dig up plants to make room for new ones.

Taco Park

Will multiply your Taco Supply, giving you two Tacos in every Taco time.

Star Tree

The more stars you give the tree, the more Pinatas you can get.

Skeleton Keys

You need skeleton keys to play a level. But don’t worry, you can buy those with real money or just wait for the time to refresh it up.

First impressions

The goal of the developers is to make the game more phone-friendly and to provide smoother transitions between the game and other applications, and I think they achieved that. I’m also loving the 3D style change that makes it unique compared to the original games. Gameplay-wise, I think it is still the game that I love during my childhood plus the stylish graphics and interaction with friends.
