With the Pandemic forcing us to work from home and do classes remotely, having a properly working and high definition webcam has never been more imperative.
Not all of us have the resources to buy a new one for your personal computer and I’m sure most of you here have laptops which webcam is not up to par.
The good news for everyone is you don’t need to buy a new one to solve this dilemma. All you need is a working desktop/laptop, a working phone that has a good camera and follow my instructions then you’re good to go.
In this article, I will show you how to use your mobile phone as a webcam for your Zoom and Skype meetings.
Download DroidCam for your Laptop and Smartphone
You can download the DroidCam for Windows on dev47apps.com and DroidCam App on Playstore and install them on both platforms respectively.
Connect Smartphone and Laptop to WiFi
Make sure that both units are connected to the same home network / internet that you have.
Open both DroidCam for PC and SmartPhone
All you need to do is copy the WiFi IP and Port that can be seen on your Smartphone to your DroidCam Client on your Laptop or PC
Note: The DroidCam Client on your PC / Laptop’s connection method should be “Connect over WiFi / LAN”
Check Output
After successfully connecting your DroidCam App to the DroidCam Client, your phone will now show the camera output and your PC / Laptop will now recognize it as your webcam.
Try running Skype or Zoom, and go to ‘Video Input’ to see if it’s perfectly working. If you follow the steps above then you are good to go. Just make sure to position your phone properly so that it will give the best output.
