“MMR is just a number”. This is a famous quote/tweet by the Dota 2 Legend himself Dendi when he reached 8K MMR a long time ago. That tweet divided the community as some players agreed with him while some cursed him.
No matter what your stand here in this debacle, you can’t deny the fact that MMR is still an important part of the game as it will decide what MMR pool are you playing with and which players are you playing with. Most dedicated players are serious about raising their MMR and fortunately for them, there is a recalibration option in Dota 2, where you can rapidly increase or decrease your MMR whenever activated.
Recalibrate your MMR in just a few clicks
Take note that you can recalibrate your MMR in Dota 2 any time and to activate this you just need to launch the game and go to the settings tab. Go to Account then click ‘Activate Recalibration’ to start calibrating your MMR.
After this, you need to play ten ranked matches to calibrate your rank. You can get as much as 50 MMR per win and the same MMR is deducted if you lose. Let’s say that your current rank is 4500 MMR and win all of your 10 calibration matches then you’ll have 5000 MMR as a result. But if you lose it all then you’ll go down to 4000.
Your rank will be hidden until calibration is completed. Take note that you can only calibrate your MMR once a year.
