If you’re familiar and have played Splinterlands or any card games then you will love God’s Unchained tactical card game. God’s Unchained is a free-to-play and play-to-earn blockchain-based card game that gives you ownership of in-game items such as nonfungible token cards. The game focuses on competitive play where players must defeat enemies by using, building, or assembling decks that can counter a variety of tactics by the enemy.
In this game, you completely own your cards and you can either buy, collect, sell and use them any way you like similar to owning tangible cards in real life. As I have said earlier, the game is free-to-play and you can start and at the same time earn with no capital.
The token that will be used in the game is GODS, and it will be launched soon and will be an integral part of Gods Unchained’s play to earn foundations. For more information about the token then you can check it here.
How To Start Playing God’s Unchained
The first thing that you need to do is go to their website and register for an account. Once you’re done, download the God’s Unchained Launcher, install it and then you can start playing.
Once you are in the game, you will be prompted to do a tutorial and I suggest you go for it especially if you haven’t played any card games ever. The tutorial will teach you the basic mechanics of the game but if you have missed it some of it then you can follow the guide below. After the tutorial, you will be given 3 card packs that you can use in game.
Choosing A Game Mode
There are three Game Modes in God’s Unchained namely:
- Solo – Play against the computer to test your skills and decks
- Ranked – Win to raise your rankings and earn rewards
- Direct Challenge – Invite your opponent for a friendly duel
I suggest going Solo first before going into rank matches if you want to practice and try different combinations for your cards.
Choosing a Deck / Loadout
Newcomers are given a ‘Welcome Set’, which is a free collection of 70 individual cards (140 in total) that are sorted into six decks. These are given to new players to help them learn and navigate the game.
Before going into a match, you need to build or select a deck, which requires 30 cards and should be under one of the six Gods in the game; Light, Death, War, Nature, Magic, and Deception. As you are new, you will be given 6 premade decks that are under 6 different Gods and you can use them for your matches. You can also customize it or build your deck from scratch.
Take note that whenever you build a deck, 2 copies of each card is allowed, and only one if it is under the legendary category. Choose the deck that you want to use in your match and click ‘Play’ to start the game.
Choosing a God Power
The next thing to do is to choose a ‘God Power’ for your God. You can only pick one before the start of the match and you can’t change it afterward. God Power can only be used once per turn and requires mana per usage.
Choosing Your Starting Hand
Before the start of the match, you will be given random cards for your starting hands. Even though it’s random, you still have the chance to also replace it randomly but you can only do these four times.
Start Dueling
Once you’re done assembling your deck and starting hands, you can now start the Duel. Controls during the match are very simple. If you want to summon monsters, you just need to drag and drop the chosen cards into the board. If you want to cast spells, you only need to drag the cards and place them to your chosen targets.
Other things that you need to remember are:
- You can only hold a maximum of 9 cards
- A maximum of 6 monsters can only be summoned on the board
- There is a mana requirement for every usage of your cards
- This is a turn-based game
- You win if the opposing god’s health is reduced to 0.
How to Earn Money in God’s Unchained
If you want to earn cash by playing God’s Unchained then you need to play Ranked Matches so you can earn Flux. What is the use of this Flux?
The cards or ‘Welcome” that are given to you at the beginning are Common Core cards and are not minted to the Ethereum network and have no real value. This is where Flux comes into play. Flux is used to duplicate Core cards at the Forge to create higher quality Cards. These high-quality cards are minted to the Ethereum network and now have real-world value.
Now that you have these high-quality cards, you can now sell or trade them in the Marketplace for some real-world cash. As of writing, using Flux to fuse core cards into meteorite cards is temporarily disabled due to some network issues. It is expected to open soon once issues are resolved.
Conclusion
As of the moment, the only thing that you can do now is to play and collect Flux and wait for the fuse feature to be back. The game has a long way to go especially that the GODS Token is not yet released so you can expect better things to come. While waiting for the play-to-earn feature, you can just work your way up to the rank leaderboards to get many rewards.
