How to Change Region in Dota 2

If you want to experience playing with other players with other people then you might want to change your region in the game. There are over 19 matchmaking regions that you can choose from in the game but not all of them are accessible especially if you have high ping or the game itself is unable to confirm the network connectivity on the selected region.

Some regions will obviously give you the best experience in playing and some will not as you have to consider your location to your selected matchmaking region. In my case, I’m from the Philippines and SE Asia and Japan gives me the lowest ping while regions from Europe give me the highest ping, while regions from China are not accessible.

Changing regions is quite simple and you just have to follow the instructions below.

Change Matchmaking Regions in DOTA 2

1. Open the DOTA 2 Application then click PLAY DOTA then find the Region: Auto on the lower right side.

2. Select up to three matchmaking regions that give the lowest ping. There is also an option to automatically pick the best region based on my location.

3. Start queuing for a match and you will now be paired with players in the same region.

Always remember that you can select up to three matching regions to speed up your  matchmaking speed, but may cause latency issues if the server location is far away. It is also very important to choose a region where the language you speak is the dominant language so you can avoid people reporting you for speaking another language.
