Today, the first season of Dota Underlords on Android, IOS, and PC kicks off that has a Battle Pass option that lets you unlock various cosmetics and more.
It is a team-based multiplayer Auto chess game that lets you build a squad composed of Dota 2 heroes and unlock synergies to defeat your opponents.
You can play the game on Android, IOS, and PC.
Guide and Review
It is advisable that you sign in with your steam account to earn progress and claim rewards. But no worries, you can still create a new account and use it to log in. Just don’t forget your email because it will ask you for a Steam Guard Code!
Gameplay
Dota Underlords is a simple game of strategy where you battle against other players and the last player standing wins. The only way to win is to build the best squad.
Open the shop by selecting the button above to hire heroes for your squad. Each hero has their own strengths and abilities. You can hire a hero by just clicking on it.
Drag your hero from your bench to the board to get them into the next fight.
Items
There is a loot round in the game, wherein you can pick up loots to improve your hero.
You can equip the item by clicking it on the right side and dragging it onto the hero of your choice.
Upgrading your heroes
If you hire two of the same hero, they will combine to create a more powerful one. Some games need three of the same heroes for the upgrade.
Opponents Info
Opponents info can be seen in the top left.
Alliances
Ranking up heroes isn’t the only way to get stronger. You can form alliances with heroes. Each hero can form two or three Alliances and getting the right mix of heroes on your squad can result in strong Alliance buffs.
You can know if you can form Alliance if both heroes have the same Attributes that can be seen below their hero design.
How Many Heroes on the Board
The number of heroes you can field is equal to your level number in the current match,
The level indicator can be seen on the right side by clicking the shop. You’ll gain 1 XP Per round but you can also buy 5 XP for 5 gold.
Underlords
The final piece in the game is the Underlord who is the leader of the crew. You can choose an Underlord every match after your crew is settled depending on your game mode. Your Underlord fights alongside your squad and fires their ability automatically.
Annesix
Can summon demon companion, heal allies, and curses enemies.
Hobgen
Can set things on fire hyping every unit, and uses long-range flame attacks to inflict damage.
Enno
Uses poison to deal damage to the enemy and displaces enemies onto random cells.
Jull
Focuses on tanking and damage reduction and healing.
Game modes
The game has 3 game modes namely Knockout, Standard, and Duos. There is also a training mode where you can explore army compositions.
1. Knockout -A fast-paced match that ends within strike four
2. Standard – A deeper and more strategic match that has a longer duration compared to Knockout
3. Duos – You can team up with a friend in a standard match
First Impressions
As a person who doesn’t have any experience playing any Auto Chess game, I find the game very easy to understand. The tutorials are very easy to grasp but I hope they do dwell more on Alliances.
The downside is I find the standard game’s duration too long for a mobile game. So you really need to settle down if you want to play a single match. You also need to have a high-end mobile device to play it smoothly or you can just tweak your graphics on the options tab. My experience so far is it is so laggy, I don’t know if it has something to do with the servers or if my phone just can’t really handle the game.
Overall, Dota Underlords is something that I will play for a long time. I’ll also try purchasing a battle pass soon and make a review about it.
