It is never too late to join the Hype Train! If you still don’t know how to play the latest social game craze, Among Us, that your friends are fuzzing about on Facebook then you came to the right article.
The game is downloadable both on Android and IOS and has a size of 72 MB. Take note that you need to have an internet connection or at least a local wifi connection to play this game.
The game is free-to-play, but you can buy the game for only 2 dollars if you want to remove the ads. The good thing about buying it is whenever you host a game, all your friends that are inside the match will also be playing the game ad-free.
A recent announcement also revealed that they will be releasing Among Us 2 soon with no definite timeline.
Game Modes in Among Us
Among Us is a game that is based on trust and cooperation. You can either play online or via Local Wifi.
Local Wifi
Play with your friends on your local Wifi connection and create a room. Hosting it will give you powers to customize the game such as choosing the map, how many impostors, number of emergency meetings and cooldowns, discussion time, and a lot more.
Online
You also have the option to play online. You can either host a game, find a public game or enter a private one providing that you have the password.
Host a game
If you decided to host a game online, you will be given a code near the start button. Sharing this code with your friends will make it a private room. You can choose which map, how many impostors, language, how many players are allowed to join the game, and the same customization that you can do in a locally hosted game.
If you decided to make it public, just tap “Private” to make it visible for “Find Game” mode.
As the host, you can either ban or kick players who you think are ruining the fun.
Find a Public Game
Just tap Find game and you will see a list of rooms where you can join.
Private
Create a room with a code so you can share it and play exclusively with your friends.
Navigation
You can move along the ship using the joystick or via touch. There is also a personal map to help you navigate. There are three available maps namely: The Skeld, Mira HQ, and Polus.
How to Play Among Us
Play as an Impostor or a Crewmate
You will be playing with up to 4 to 10 players online or local and you’ll be assigned as either Crewmate or Impostor.
Crew
Your objective as a crewmate is to fill group tasks or discover the Impostor. Some of these objectives are:
- Completing tasks to fill gauge
- React to Impostors sabotage
- Call emergency meeting when Impostor is found
- Report dead bodies
- Check Admin Map for suspicious activities
Impostor
Your objective as an Impostor is to kill the Crew. For you to do this, you can:
- Blend in with the Crew
- Sneak through vents
- Pretend to run tasks
- Sabotage ships
- Close doors and trap victims
- Kill off the crew between cooldowns
Can you reveal the Impostor once you’re killed?
The answer is No! If you get killed by an impostor, you are not allowed to talk until the game ends. If you’re killed, you’ll be tagged as Ghost and you can still do your tasks hoping your Crewmates win.
Emergency Meeting
As a Crewmate, you can report a dead body or call an emergency meeting. The meeting’s purpose is to discuss everything they know about the Impostor. Players can now talk freely about who they think the Impostor is. Again, Ghosts cannot talk as they already know who the Impostor is.
As an Impostor, you can either defend yourself or accuse another unsuspecting crew member.
After the meeting, you can now vote who you think is the Impostor and whoever gets the majority of the votes gets ejected.
In any case that all of you are still undecided, there’s an option to skip the voting and to continue playing on until you get more information.
That’s all you need to know for Among Us. If you have questions, recommendations, or if you want to play with me then you can share them below in the comment section!
I also want to inform you that as of writing, I find it difficult to join matchmaking and I think you know why. The hype for this game is real!
