Communication or ‘Voice/Chat Coms’ is very crucial to winning a match in Valorant. Effective communication is critical. Players must inform their teams about what they’re presently doing and what they intend to do in the future. It’s important when attempting to set up plays in-game such as reclaiming site or defending.
Sadly, this kind of communication mostly happens only in high elo games. Good chat coms are so rare in low ranks for some reason and I think that is one of the reasons why most of them are hard stuck in those ranks.
Most of them don’t use coms simply because they don’t have any functional headsets, some can’t speak English or some don’t really want to use it for simple reasons of being shy. Fortunately for those shy people, voice coms isn’t the only option in the game as there is also a text chat available for you to communicate.
How to Use Valorant Text Chat
The text chat in the Valorant is very much accessible all throughout the game, even if you’re in a match or just waiting idly in your lobby. There are three types of chat modes in Valorant and they are as follows:
Whisper Chat
Whisper Chat is the direct way of messaging your friends privately in-game. This is very useful especially when you are in a match but this feature is accessible anywhere in the game.
You can use the Whisper feature by following the instructions below.
- Open the Chat Box by pressing “Enter”
- Press Tab on your keyboard to open the Whisper Feature
- Type the name of the friend that you want to message then press Enter
- You can now start typing your message and press Enter if you are done.
All Text Chat
All Text Chat is a feature where you can message all players in a match even your enemies. To open this, just press Shift + Enter to begin typing your message.
Party Text Chat
Party Text Chat is a feature where you can message players who are in your party. This will be the default chat mode if you enter a party with another player.
Team Text Chat
Team Text Chat is the default feature in the game and this feature will only send messages visible to your teammates in the game.
Final Thoughts
Communicating with the team as a solo queue player can be tough but developing effective communication skills in your games will result in improved team coordination, which will improve your team’s chances of winning each round.
